Nicholas Meyer has a few more regrets regarding Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, though. Yet, comparatively little has been spelled out about. The Borg rank among the greatest villains in the Star Trek franchise and served as one of the catalysts that launched Star Trek: The Next Generation into greatness. We were extremely prescient in that we predicted the Soviet coup before it happened. Star Trek has never given the Borg a true origin, but novels and video games suggest a bizarre answer. And, in fact, we've entered a world which is arguably much more dangerous than eyeball to eyeball with the USSR.
